Details will be forthcoming regarding eligibility and selection process, but we do know that all regions of Canada will be represented. Those interested should monitor the CSAF message board for updates. Congratulations to Bracebridge organizers for this initiative and commitment to Scottish Heavy Athletics in Canada. Jason

Posts: 908 (06/20/10 19:38:08) I can be beat in the caber Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	A quick note on selection process for this competition: Each region of Canada will be represented by at least two athletes (2 Western, 2 Central, and 2 Atlantic) plus a minimum of four from any region of Canada. Those eligible are amateur athletes who have not competed at a CSAF open championships and/or CSAF masters championship, and non-self declared pro athletes. Selections will be based on who states their interest, our ranking board, and the aforementioned exclusions. Those in the junior age category are encouraged to apply as well; however, competence with the am/open weighted implements must be demonstrated. If you are interested you should do two things: 1. Make mention to your provincial representative or local athletic director and make them aware of your interest Do so soon as the competition is drawing near. Please see the CSAF Facebook page or the Bracebridge website regarding eligibility (Am status, requirements, events). Also, all those who have applied with the exception of those already ineligible should begin checking for a current email regarding invite status. Athletes selected (formally invited) based on data emailed to C. Wand (CSAF invite formula of 2, 2, 2 + 4 now in progress) posted below. The ranking is a modified version of the CSAF DB concept, but ranking the best results within group of applicants as 1.00 for the event. Caber length = 0.50, caber weight also = 0.50. Same applies with Stone (distance, stone weight each are ½ of stone score). Perfect ranking (if one athlete was best in all events) = 7.0. As some athletes legitimatley did not have results in certian events (no caber weight, or one hammer or WFD not thrown) the results were conservatively pro-rated to a 7 event basis (worst case scenario data used). "No-turns" in caber were NOT eligible for pro-rating. Scores are included where invites have been deployed. Invitations deployed to date: Underlined means athletes are now confirmed. ~~Strikethrough~~ means declined. West* (BC, Alta, Sask, Man) - Lance Barusch (6.32), Joe Slobodzian (5.58), Ray Siochowicz* (5.15) Central (ON, Que) - Dean Curtis (6.47), Josh Goldthorp (6.46) East (NS, NB, PEI, Nfld & L) - Joe Hall (5.53); ***by special CSAF Board dispensation the 2nd East spot is allocated to the West as only one East application was received. Next Four (regardless of region) - Jason Baines (6.37), Jacob Fast (6.00), Paul Boundy (5.93), Todd Turnbull (5.02) Invites and list of competitors now complete. Events: The 7 core events (S, 56, 28, 16H, 22H, C, WFH) will be scored to overall; Sheaf will be a challenge event outside the CSAF Amatuer Championship overall Train well and good luck to you in Bracebridge!
